Help With Your Henries Entry Form

* There is no fee for entering.
* Publishers may enter as many categories as they wish and may enter more than one category.
* A 'range' is deemed to be a collection of eight or more designs. For each entry publishers should submit eight different card samples (ideally all unwrapped).
* Publishers should enter ranges which have been launched since August 2018. However, publishers may enter ongoing ranges provided that a minimum of 8 new designs have been introduced since August 2018. (in these cases publishers should only submit the new designs).
* A separate entry form should be submitted for each entry.
* Please ensure you include the RRP(s) of the cards on the entry form.
* All entries will be mounted by Progressive Greetings for judging purposes. Therefore publishers should not submit samples ready mounted - and without cellowrap or envelopes.
* Entries to the Best Giftwrappings Collection can either be a range of giftwrap sheets or a collection of wrappings eg. co-ordinating wrap, bags, boxes, ribbons etc.
* The Best Christmas Box or Pack category will be judged on an individual product basis (ie not the range).
* Publishers should submit a separate entry form for each box or pack. These can be branded, own brand or charity products.
* The entries for the Best Spring Seasons Range will be considered by each individual event, ie Valentine's, Easter, Father's Day and Mother's Day. Publishers wishing to submit entries covering all these events should complete separate entry forms for each event. Each event will be judged individually and then an overall winner will be selected from the final four.
*The Henries' Best Male Range excludes humour, juvenile and Father's Day designs.

The Judging Process

The judging for all the product categories, as well as Most Promising Young Designer or Artist, takes place on a single day, at The Depot, a bar and restaurant adjacent to PG's London offices (where they used to make London buses!).

The Criteria For Judging Is

- Quality of Design

- Quality of print, production and manufacture

- Appropriateness for the market sector at which it is aimed

- Value for money

Each member of the judging panel considers each entry, not on what the individual buyer would sell in their shop(s), but against the above criteria.

So what happens on the judging day? Each judge is provided with a clipboard containing a judging form for each category. All entries are put on display category by category. The judges consider all entries in each category, individually selected the five entries they deemed the best in that category. They complete their judging form by writing the corresponding entry numbers (which appears at the top of each board) in order of merit in the relevant boxes on the form. Clare Davies (of PG's Henries' event organiser, Createvents) acts as an adjudicator. Points are awarded accordingly; five points are assigned to those entries judges feel were the best in the category down to 1 point for their fifth choices. The points from all the judges' forms are then correlated to arrive at the winner and the four other finalists.

The winners will be revealed at The Henries awards event on Thursday October 3 at the Royal Lancaster London Hotel in London.
